After School and Saturday Programming

The Winslow Public Library is forming a Wonder League Robotics team with the robots Dash and Dot. It will be rather intense league, consisting of a two hour weekly meeting for six months. Participants will be expected to attend each week. This meeting is for parents of interested children in order to explain the program, answer questions, and get a signed agreement of participation.

This program will run weekly on Thursdays from September 21, 2017-February 15, 2018, from 2:30-4:30 PM. Coaches will be Samantha Cote, Youth Services and Technology Librarian at the Winslow Public Library and Chris Dorman, STEM Liason at the Maine State Library. We will be running two teams for ages 9-12.  To be eligible for a 9-12 team, team members have to be turning 9 and/or turning no older than 13 as of Sept. 1, 2017-Aug. 31, 2018. Priority will be given to Winslow residents meeting the age requirement. We may be able to accept a non-resident or exceptional 8 year old if there is space.

Questions? Contact Samantha Cote, youth services librarian at 872-1978 or scote@winslow-me.gov

Try-It Tuesday will resume on October 10. Each week will involve a different activity for kids to try. This program is for grades 2-6, and students from Winslow Elementary are welcome to take the bus to the library with a bus note.  Stay tuned for more programming information as we get closer.

Lego Club is returning for another year at the Winslow Public Library on Friday,October 6. Any student in grades K-12 is welcome to come and build something at the library on Friday afternoons from 2:30-4. Creations are put on display for the entire library community to enjoy for approximately three weeks. Some weeks will feature building challenges, while other weeks will be entirely devoted to free building. Students may take the bus to the library after school with a note. Snacks are welcome but we prefer nut-free due to allergies. We hope to see you and your creations soon!

For all afterschool programs, please make sure your child has a note with the school if they will be getting off the bus here rather than their normal stop. Here is a link to the bus note form. Thanks!
