RFP - Labor Attorney

The Town of Winslow is seeking proposals from qualified applicants to serve as Legal Counsel for Human Resources and Labor matters on a contractual basis under appointment by the Town Council. The firm selected would serve as chief legal advisor to the Town for a contract term of three years, beginning upon the signing of a contract agreement April 1, 2023, and concluding March 31, 2026, with provisions for extension on a year-to-year basis. 

The HR & Labor attorney will provide legal advice to City officials in personnel and labor contract matters and will represent them in court as may be required. The attorney will also review labor contracts, personnel policies and procedures, Department of Labor and OSHA compliance, and reserve and provide opinions for the Town on these matters, excluding School Department Board and Personnel.  The attorney may be required to attend City Council meetings and other meetings and hearings as needed and will be expected to provide legal assistance in a prompt and efficient manner. The successful candidate will be licensed to practice law in the State of Maine and will demonstrate substantial training and experience in labor law and negotiations.

Proposals must be delivered to the Winslow Town Office at 114 Benton Ave, Winslow, ME 04901, or electronically to the email address above, on or before the date and time appointed. No proposals will be accepted after the time and date listed above. Proposals will be opened publicly at 2:00 p.m. on that date.
