Donations and Fundraisers

Fundraisers
The library traditionally had a group of volunteers who organized regular fundraising events each year. Due to the pandemic these events were temporarily halted. We are in the process of reorganizing our volunteers so we can restart these popular community events. Please check back regularly for updates on our progress.

Donations
We appreciate the generosity of our community. Donations to the Winslow Public library make a direct impact on the greater Winslow community by improving facilities, programs, and services for patrons of all ages. The Winslow Public Library is a town department and contributions to the library are tax deductible.


How Can I Donate? 

Unrestricted Donations

  • Patrons wishing to make an unrestricted donation to the library may do so by dropping into the library to make a cash donation at the Circulations Desk. Please ask for a receipt from the desk staff for your taxes.
  • Patrons wishing to make an unrestricted donation to the library may send a check (please write unrestricted donation to WPL on check) and mailing it with a letter of intent to the Winslow Public Library, 136 Halifax Street, Winslow Maine 04901, or by dropping off the check at the library. Please ask for a receipt from the desk staff for your taxes.
  • Patrons can donate a gift card to Amazon, Walmart, or Hannaford’s supermarket for the library. The cards can be mailed to the library or dropped off at the Circulation Desk. Please ask for a receipt from the desk staff for your taxes.

 Special Gift Donations

  • Patrons wishing to commemorate a special event or a loved one by donating to the library may do so by sending a check and a filled out Library Special Gifts Form to the Winslow Public Library, 136 Halifax Street, Winslow Maine 04901. Patrons may also drop off a check and form at the circulation Desk.
Used Material Donations
  • Due to current space limitations the library is not accepting materials donations. Please check back regularly to discover when we will be able to accept material donations.
  • A few guidelines for making a material donation
    • When the library accepts materials donations, most will be put in the library book sale, only a small amount of donations, that are in good conditions and fit into the library’s Collection development guidelines will be added to the collection.
    • Please do not donate materials that are not in good condition.
    • Please do not leave donations in the book drop, mailbox or outside the library when we are closed.
    • The library will list the kind of materials and the number of items donated on a receipt if requested. We will not list a value of items donated.
Bequests to the Library

  • Bequests to the library can be sent to the Winslow Public Library, 136 Halifax Street, Winslow Maine 04901. Unless stated, bequests will be treated as an unrestricted donation. Patrons wishing to create leave bequest in the form of a trust wishing to add to an existing trust, please contact us at libdirector@winslow-me.gov
